That is not a dumb question at all. The general answer is about 2 times a year. But they can all be different. It is not that unusual for them to only have 1 heat a year. My Sadie was 9-10 months between heats. The heats last about 3 weeks long. My girl was very neat with hers. I did not even have to have her wear the diaper I had bought, except for the first one when I did not want my male to get to her. Then she wore the diaper and a baby onesie.
But if you do not intend to breed, I would get her spade -- accidents do happen!
