If the lady is willing to spay her and pay for it before she gives the dog to you I'd do it. If not I'd still have her spayed, I only had one dog go into heat and it was a 50# dog I'd just brought home from the Humane Society a couple days earlier. No thanks never again.
Our rescue was 4 years old when we adopted her and it took her awhile but she answers to her new name now.
