I don't think simply the annual expenses need to be considered....how would you address an emergency? Or diagnosing a serious illness? It does happen and it's best to either have the funds readily available or some type of planning.
Last December Reese was really ill....1 trip to the regular vet...2 to the emergency vet and I spent over 2500...in one week.
