Smile Cake Decorating?

This is going to sound a little different, but trust me, we're having fun. My 22-year-old son and I are learning how to decorate cakes together this summer.

He's preparing to get his own apartment this fall and move out of our house. Part of that process is learning how to cook. (That's been VERY interesting, let me tell you.)

He has been watching the cooking channel and started seeing all of the cake challenges, and wanted to try it. Well, we're having a blast! And the best part is that we can eat our mistakes.

We're also thinking about taking the Wilton courses together this summer while I'm out of school.

We are keeping a photo log of our progress, and it's been hilarious so far. I need to download the photos from the camera sometime today.

In the meantime, do you decorate your own cakes? Have you had fun with it? Do you have photos or tips to share? In particular, tips on how to save money doing this? Some of this stuff is expensive. Fun, but expensive.
