The one you are talking about is the conintenal one that will register anything that has fur and looks like it could be a dog. They registar mill dogs all the time. and are know for that.
If you buy from a reputable breeder in the first place and not the likes of Danes or his kind you should be ok and I say should be.
As for DNA on dogs well that should not need to happen again if you buy from a reputable breeder.

CKC mentioned here is the Continental Kennel Club. The Canadian Kennel Club is recognized by AKC who accepts the Canadian Kennel clubs dogs, I know, I own 3 Yorkshire Terriers from CKC. However, AKC needs to require DNA testing of both sire and dam. How do you think suddenly all these Parti Yorkies are showing up? Surprise, surprise when DNA starts on both sire and dams, this is why the Biewer Terrier with BTRA is protected. Both sire and dams are DNA tested so there is no doubt who the true parents are. No designer dogs here.
