The only experience I have with getting a runt is Cali. Cali was the runt and way smaller than her 2 litter mates when I went to see them at 6 weeks. When I went to pick her up she was almost as big as her litter mates and ended up to be 5lb 6 ounces. She also has been continually sick, the first 6 months I spent over 7000 in vet bills due to hypoglycemia episodes is spite doing everything right and a liver shunt. She has bad allergies, numerous stomach problems that require immediate vet attention. Now whether this is due to her being the runt or just buying from a bad breeder I don't know. I am sure many breeders can give you more info on the general health of runts, i only have one experience.
