I had a teddy bear hamster when I was a teenager. I loved that little booger. He was so tame. I carried him all around the house and he loved to roll around the house in his ball. We had a poodle that would follow him around. As long as you get a really tame one and really spend a lot of time with it, you should have a good experience. We've considered getting our girls one but with Tatum in the house, I would really hate to see an accident happen - like the hamster escaping and Tatum catching it before we do. Of course that can be avoided with some careful attention but I'm not sure my girls would be that diligent about it.
