One year boosters are necessary if pup shots were stopped at around 16 weeks. After that there are different protocols to choose from.
No, Suzi had not completed her vaccines at around 16 weeks . She was older. She had her rabies shot for the first time last yr. Not as a booster. I waited to finish the vaccines because the breeder had started her on shots already, the first set was given too early. The vet reccomended me to start over on the vaccines altogether. I was upset about this, because I felt like she was going to be overvaccinated. I prolonged the last round of vaccines > for a few weeks , then cancelled, then finally had it done. She was around 5 1/2 months before the rabies shot was administered.
I also wanted to be certain that Suzi will protected when we bring home a new puppy. And the new puppy is going to be safe too.
