What are they used to? Are you usually gone during the day or is someone home with them?
We've left Kirby at home for short periods of time with someone coming in 3 times each day. He wasn't crated, but did have the kitchen, his bed, plenty of food and water. He was already used to being home during the day without us (and in the kitchen). At the time, we only had Ginger, Kirby and Fun Kitty. (Fun Kitty stayed home to and had the run of the house)
I found Kirby was happier, cleaner, and in better health when we did this instead of boarding him. He was so stressed out by being boarded.
Our "dog sitter" came three times each day and stayed for an hour minimum each time. She kept him outside for awhile and came in an "hung out" for awhile.
Honestly, I think he was thankful he wasn't boarded. |
