Yes this is a form of resource guarding and can lead to other dominance related behaviors

As an owner what you need to do is when someone goes to leave
and you can even try and get a patient volunteer to help you with this
when they get up
you need to step in front of the dog and go ... NO!
You have to block their way as you do this

and even back the pup up

as the person then walks to the door you stay between them
Do not let the dog bark or lunge
If he does the person sits and you start again
