I pick out the dried eye stuff with my *clean* fingers.
As far as the wet gunk that is inside the corner of the eye, I gently use a Q-tip. I've found it attracts the wet gunk like a magnet and my pup sits still for me to finish. It seems she hates that stuff as much as I do!
