Last night while I was in the shower (getting ready to go out for my birthday) my boyfriend tripped and accidentally stepped on Callie's head/shoulders. I came out of the shower and he had this horrible look on his face. Callie is always right by everyone's feet, curious about whats going on. He said that he lost his balance, caught himself and Callie happened to be under his foot

He said he picked her up, put her on the bed, she deeply exhaled and then defecated all over the bed.

Not good. She was shaking and whimpering and drooling

when I came out to see her. She could walk, but she was limping on the right side and was favoring that side kind of walking in a circle. We rushed her to the emergency vet which is about 5 minutes away from my home. I sobbed the entire time, I thought for sure she was going to pass away in the car.
The vet looked at her and thought she had head trauma. Wanted to keep her over night, start an IV to giver her Mannitol (a medication that draws fluid away from the brain) and take a chest x-ray to assure she didn't have any internal bleeding. She said she would call us in a few hours with an update. The hours passed by SO SLOW. The vet called and said Callie was acting a lot better after she got the Mannitol. The x-ray didn't show any internal bleeding. Chris and I were both so happy I started crying, again.
The doc called this morning saying Callie would be okay to come home today. I picked her up from the vet this afternoon. She is acting her normal self, responds to her name, EATS, responds to "treat commandss" sit, stay, down etc. and has given me tons of kisses. I will watch her for the next few hours and make sure she is still acting fine. Not walkinmg in circles, seizing, falling down etc.
How scary, poor Callie! That was the WORST birthday every. I knew I was dreading the 25th birthday for a reason..... so sad....
