There are some definite advantages to having a little bit of a larger dog. At a lean, athletic 13 pounds, Penny is still a small dog compared with most dogs out there, small enough to easily travel with and cute as a button, but she is big enough that I don't have to fret about hypoglycemia, she can keep up with me when we're on one of our seven mile hikes, and I can let her play with children and friendly big dogs without being terrified that they'll injure her.
