I'm going thru the same thing. My Vet said there were no special things to do until she is spayed and she will repair the hernia then with just a couple of stiches. I presume it is an inguinal hernia which is what mine has.
BTW I am waiting as long as possible to have mine spayed due to her size, maybe not until she is one, the smaller ones mature more slowly and she may not come into heat until after that.
