If he is 12 weeks now and over 6lbs ~How old was he when you got him and what weight? The breeder in this case imo had to have known he would not be 5lbs, This is just one of the reasons I like to keep my puppies until they are 12 weeks or longer so I can make an honest guess at weight and then there are still some that will surprise you. But you would at least try and be in a 2lb range or hopefully closer if you know your lines. That way I can match the puppy with the family and it is a win win.
