You should hold him tight and place him down, so he doesn't jump. I am really sorry to say, but LP is so common in Yorkies. He is 7 and most likely has had LP for quite some time and the continued years of normal jumping has progressed the LP to the point you are now seeing, carring his leg.
LP has 4 Grades. IMO Grade 3 and Grade 4 should have surgery to stop the luxation. LP can't fix itself, and you can not *un-do* the damage. The luxation over and over causes the cartilage to wear away, once worn down, you have bone rubbing on bone, which means pain and lots of it.
Alot of us here, including me have LP dogs. If surgery is required, please seek an Ortho Specialist to do the surgery, and make sure they will be doing the cut and pin type of LP surgery.
As for supplements, alot of us are using Cosiquin, by Nutromax. They seem to be the only company that has actual case studies to back there product.
