visiting breeders homes Being able to visit the breeder's home is not always the gold standard anymore. In recent years, there has been one breeder killed, several held at gunpoint, a number of breeders robbed and dogs stolen and all by people claiming to be puppy buyers. I personally no longer allow anyone to come to my home. I go to theirs or meet them in a neutral place. I feel that my first responsibility is to my family and my dogs to keep them safe. I understand wanting to know that the puppies were raised well, but I think there are other ways to determine that. Getting to know the breeder, seeing how he/she responds to your questions, seeing what kind of questions they ask you for example. Also a good health guarantee for the puppy. If it is a show breeder, there should be a track record for their dogs as well. JMO
