I had my sweet girl cremated. I finally decided I did not want the ashes. That would only remind me of her death. So, I chose not to have them returned. The creamation company will bury them. I have lots of pictures and those will remind me of her life, that is what I want to remember. When I was little we buried our pets in the back of our property. I want to move after my youngest goes to college so I did not want to do that here.

It all depends on what makes you comfortable. I have heard of those who made a charm of their pets ashes and some who keep an urn or box with the ashes. Some even keep a lock of hair. If that brings them comfort, I think that is right for them. No one can really chose for another. Grief is hard enough. If there is anything that can help bring peace and comfort, I say that is the way to go.
