I don't see a big problem with giving pork fat (that is in a balanced and low to moderate fat food) if they do well on it. Dogs can have pork... Any dog who eats a food that just says "meat" or "animal fat" may be eating pork anyway... I understand the concern, especially because people are told never to give pork, ham, bacon, etc. (and I'm in total agreement) but the same doesn't seem to apply if it is in a commercial food. If you are at all uncomfortable, I wouldn't use it...
