Yesterday evening, my DH wanted to go on a hike up the Castle Rock hill at Rock Park here in town. So we loaded up the kids and both dogs and went to tackle this hill. Castle Rock, Colorado is at 6,220 elevation and the top this hill is @ 6,590. We are not normally a "hiking" family but decide to 'just do it'!

Well, let me just say that the dogs took better to it than we did at first. This altitude stuff is a killer! Lucy & Max practically ran the whole way while basically dragging me & DH behind them. Once at the top, we encountered a few other canines and while Max didn't act up (surprise, surprise) of course Lucy acted as though she was gonna eat them alive. How she even have the breath to growl and snarl, I'll never know.

Once we started our descent, Max was pooped and Lucy was dragging me back down the hill! DH had this brilliant idea of going down the other side of the hill as to beat the two teenagers. So here we all take off running

now; DH in the lead with Max tagging along barely being drug, 8 yr old son (who is not coordinated to begin with) trying to keep up while not falling & laughing hysterically, and Lucy once more dragging me down the mountain now. I say 'mountain' b/c now this thing has become a beast that I will now glare at every time I pass by the view out of my kitchen window.
We all made it down in record time and were able to catch our breath before the teenagers did and DH was quite proud of himself and our puppies too for such an endeavor. Next time, I think I'll just roller skate and have "Lucy the Super Yorkie" pull me behind her.
