My 3 yorkies have been to the ocean. They love to chase the waves out and run back in as the waves wash in. I always try to bathe the girls after they have been to the ocean due to the salty water and salt buildup in the fur.
At home all 3 like to swim. I do not make any of them get in if they don't want to. They love to jump on my float and float out to the middle. Then they jump off and swim towards the steps. It is a great idea to show them the steps so they can always swim out. We have a l6 x 32 foot pool and the girls love to go swimming. It is 8 foot in the deep end.
