I am very confused as to why the original post from 2007 is being debated as if it was a current topic. Furthermore, I have read through all of your posts to this thread and it seems to me that you have not educated yourself very well about pet shops, puppy mills, brokers, reputable breeders or even how to purchase from a reputable breeder. I have just posted several youtube.com links to recent puppymill busts and I suggest that you view them all so that you understand what, where, why and who a puppymill is, produces, and how they treat the ADULT dogs that are forced into this misery. After watching these videos (if you can even stomach getting through them) come back and volunteer for a rescues to see what the aftermath of a puppymill bust is truly like. Dogs living their entire lives in cages without human contact scarred and scared out of thier mind when they are finally set free. Some with emotional scars so deep they are never able to recover and live the life every pet should be allowed.

I believe in forming my opinions through education. Then once I have become informed I will them be more well equipped to debate an issue. As for a puppymill with 5000 dog I have no idea if this is true since the original post was from 2007, but nothing would surprise me. IMO, I would never purchase a puppy from ANYONE that I was not able to pull up in front of their HOME, get out on my car, shake the hand of the breeder, see the parents of the puppies with my own eyes AND then do a further research to insure that I was purchasing a good quality puppy.

Anyone that says that purchasing a puppy from a pet story, Kijji, Craigslist, or pupy broker is just asking to be scammed or worse bring an unhealthy puppy into their home. My suggestion would be to skip all of the above shady business practices and jump right over to a rescue for a new pet. There are so many pups in need there is NO EXCUSE to help line the pockets of greedy disreputable individuals making money off the backs of poor defenseless dogs.

As I see it, there is no argument as to why it is even remotely acceptable to purchase ANY dog that is even suspected to come from questionable practices. Just like any other major purchase that you make it is should go without saying "BUYER BEWARE".
