The size of the stud has nothing to do with the size of the puppy at birth - this is determined by the mother. And by that I do not mean the size of the mother at the time of whelp but the birth size of puppies in her back ground. There is no reason to breed a girl to a smaller male unless you are trying to decrease size. And size alone shouldn't be the determining factor.
Personally, I am much more distressed by the people breeding tiny Yorkies (both male and female) than by someone that would use a 7 lb dog for stud. I have seen many 7 lb males that are wonderful quality that could inprove most girls. |
