media mail takes for ev er! and i don't believe you can make a claim until 21 days after you have mailed the item anyhow. but if there is no ins, there really isn't anything you can do.
decide on how willing you are to refund this person's money. and if you are, how much are you willing to return? 5-10? is 20 too much? can you check and see (like on ebay)how great of a buyer this person is?
