Default Demodex and Promeris

Hi all! Well, I've posted in the past about Guppy's ongoing battle with Demodex. We've spent the last year running back and forth to specialists and the University of Florida Small Animal Clinic looking for answers. I've consulted a canine nutritionist and we've tried everything we can think of nutritionally (enzymes, bovine colostrum, etc.). We've had great results with the daily Interceptor but the cost is high, so although I'm committed to paying it as that's the only thing that's worked in the past, I've been on the lookout for a new way to get around giving him a once a month drug daily. I can't imagine that the long term use would be good for him. I've used Skin So Soft as a rinse with good results but it's not consistent and the oil has gotten on all my furniture since it stays behind after rinsing. My vet called me a couple weeks ago and told me Promeris is now FDA approved as a treatment for demodex. It's a once a month spot on, with the active ingredient Amitraz. It's been almost 2 weeks since we started the treatment and already I'm seeing good results. I didn't see any of the lethargy sometimes associated the the application, but he did throw up a couple times the night we put it on. Still, as an alternative to a much more aggressive therapy which is oral (Interceptor) I think I feel better about its use. Anyone else battling this or using Promeris? I'd love any feedback. Thanks!
