Seriously, they aren't a necessity but since yorkies are prone to tartar, you should give them a safe chewing stick, as it helps to keep their teeth scraped free of tartar. Bully sticks, unlike rawhides are 100% digestible, and therefore cannot cause an intestinal obstruction. You can buy them online, I get mine on e-bay, and only use the Merrick brand because they are 100% USA made. Drying the sticks is an important part of the process, and since many companies are importing from China, we feel safer using the Merrick brand.
