I use to go to confirmation classes back in the 80's - the last time I was showing yorkies. Since now returning, I missed the last class but they have a new set starting up soon here in NE Georgia. The all-breed dog club I belong to is hosting it. I plan to go (every Monday 7:30). It is a great way to gove the dog practice time and make sure you are showing correctly - and allows you practice time. I think that it allows you to be more calm showing and that calmness transfers down the lead to the dog. They are so observant. They do so much better when they are in a calmer state.
