It takes about 36 hours before you can tell if an antibiotic is working. After that, if she is still symptomatic, check with your vet. He may want to try another antibiotic or do a sterile culture.

UTI's usually respond to either Clavamox or Baytril so most vets will prescribe one of the two right away as cultures can take a week to grow. Most UTI's are caused by E-coli which is very resistant to antibiotics so sometimes it is necessary to do a culture. Lady had a UTI a few years ago that was stubborn to clear up. It turned out she needed Tetracyline in addition to Clavamox because she had two different strains of bacteria.
