Mom used one all of the time and the only time she "blew it up" was when she would use it for bean soup and the vent would plug up and blow the safety valve out. I have used one for over 30 yrs as it is a valuable cooking tool for me. I have a 4qt Mirro and use it mainly for cooking vegtables.
Once I caught DH using it in the garage as a steamer for his steam box for bending ash
for a boat project.
I bought one for my daughter last year and they use it alot.
