What happened to this dog? My son recently adopted this female dog from the humane society. He was told that she is a border collie (not sure about that) He was told that the people that brought her in said that she was too shy....Well hmm
My son has had her for 2 weeks now. She responds to her new name (Aura). Lifts her ears sometimes, gives us a slight tail wag sometimes. But never gets up and comes to you when called. We have seen very very mild changes with her but our concern is that this pup who is just over a year old cowards from men...only wants to sit in a corner, shows no interest in play. Potties outside when she is taken on walks, but does not like to roam free outdoors on her own, she will come straight back to the door if we take her leash off.
When the leash is put on sometimes she will just get up and walk to go outside other times we have to really work to get her out the door. Once she is walking she starts acting ok and then a car will go by and she will put her head way down. Or she will hear a sound, doesn't have to be a very loud sound and she will put her head way down. Honestly it appears that she really loves to be walked but then she hears a sound and it is like her world stops...Then she will resume her walk again. When we arrive back at home she heads straight for a corner at the end of the hall.
When it comes to children....she will give them a tail wag, and respond to them in ways that she does not respond to adults.
We feel so bad and can't help to think that she has been treated very bad. We would like to earn her trust, but not sure how.
Any ideas? |
