I went to grooming school in Utah (Shear Elegance Pet Styling Academy), but the instructor has sinced passed away from Cancer. If you truly loves animals, have lots of energy and patience, and don't mind getting dirty and stinky, then you'd probably love it. It's very demanding physically, but a very rewarding job. You'll also need good people skills so that you'll get along well with your clients. The amount you make depends on if you work for yourself or at a grooming shop.

Your pay is usually 50 - 75% commission if you work for someone else. You're usually expected to groom 6-8 dogs a day. Some places have bathers, but I always preferred bathing my own dogs. That way I know it was done right.

I worked at a veterinary clinic at one time and also worked at a Pet Hotel that was a boarding, doggie day care, and grooming facility.

There are also grooming competitions that you can participate in when you feel comfortable with that. My instructor was a member of Groom Team USA and later served on the Board of Directors. Just an FYI so that you are aware of the level you can get to if you want to take it that far.
