I think since Lucy was still a puppy, @ 3 1/2 months old, she adapted pretty soon. Probably about 3 weeks and she was adjusted well. It was very hard to keep my bearings and not become too attatched, too soon. They are lovely little ones; whether they are bouncy, clingy or just scared. Once I started loving on her, after I gave up finding owner, she came around and loved me back even more.
If you decide to adopt him, just be patient and love him but give him a little room to adjust also. It just might take him a bit to trust and to expressively love back. Whatever his story is, you can be assured that right now, you are the center of his little frightened world.
