The primary difference between puppy mill breeders and backyard breeders is that backyard breeders generally have fewer dogs, and usually do treat their dogs better than a puppy mill breeder. They will often say things like, "I love my dogs, and all my dogs sleep in the same bed as me." However, neither do health testing, they ignore the advice from the YTCA on what's best for the breed, they don't breed to standard, and their primary reason for breeding is profit.
