She will come to me when I call her, and she likes to be held, but she doesn't seek out attention on her own, like my other two. Rita is the first one I've had that I didn't raise from a puppy. I am wondering if anyone else has been through this? I have seen improvement since we first got her almost three weeks ago. When we come home from being out somewhere, she does show some excitement now. The first week she didn't even pick up her head! Rita is 6 yrs old, she walks and behaves like she's 15! I've not seen her run, play with my other two, not even interested in a toy, which given Yorkie's curious nature, I find disturbing. Am I being a worry wart?
I don't know about worry wart, but it sounds like Rita doesn't know how to play for whatever reason... providing she has no health issues. If she's come a long way in 2-3 weeks, it's likely she just needs some more time & patience from you. Each day she'll be able to learn about play from watching the other two. Stay alert to anything that perks her attention a little, then encourage a little more of that play w/treats. It may be slow going, but hopefully she'll pull out of it. She's had 6 years to get this way & it's not likely to be a quick fix situation. Good luck!
