I don't claim to be an expert, but I think the norm in the UK is for pups to go at 6-8 weeks.

Both the breeders i've spoken to have started weaning at around 4 weeks.

I guess there's no hard and fast rule as Oscar was far in advance of Poppy development wise at the same age.
