A friend asked me out before, just a friend and he always paid. Movies, Dinner, whatever... he always paid. He also held open all the doors, let me through the door, car door, carried my stuff, etc.
Now, every now and then when I would just go to his house to play WII or what have you... I'd would say, hey want me to pick up something to eat? Then I would pay bc I was picking it up and it was MY offer.
IMO, there is nothing wrong with a woman paying time to time but if he asks her out and its "new" then its expected that he be paying.
