Aww. I'm not an expert, but perhaps she just decided she liked that little bit of independence. They go through "stages" just like human children. Perhaps she'll be back at some point. I think you are being a great mommy by not pushing the issue.
Also, you told a lovely story of her attachment to your granddaughter. Perhaps she is just missing her. That will pass.
