Some people call the light silver color blue -- but the standard is to be the dark steel blue. Females will sometimes continue to lighten in color the more they are bred, hormones coming in to play. My breeder showed me pictures of one of her girls that is a very pale silver -- when she was 3 years old, she still had a very dark steel blue color. But by the time she had her last litter, (I think she was 6 yrs. old) she was a very light, light, color. So it can vary a great deal on when they stop changing.
Thank you for this information. I thought it was because Suzi was shaved down once. All her puppy coat disappeared after that. Now, it has grown back to the silver, and has some dark color to her coat> I am thinking she still is changing her coat colors. She wll be 15 months June 3 .Suzi is my first Yorkie , so it is all new to me.
