My guy is unemployed right now. At first he insisted on paying for everything. I posted about my concerns with this. I felt terrible because I am working and can afford to pay for things. Gradually he has accepted me contributing. Now that we are engaged, generally, he buys one meal, then I buy one meal. If it is a situation where we are picking up the tab for a friend and it is my turn to pay (or if we had planned to go dutch), I let his ego win and let him pay. I just pay for the next few meals until I have paid half. We figure when we get married, these meals out will be paid for by our joint bank account, to which we contribute equally. We are just practicing now. It works well for us. He gives so much in other ways!
