I am guessing that he is depressed because he is missing his family. His collar could have slipped off, and he could have run out the door.

Make sure you do everything to reunite him with his family before you even think about keeping him. Imagine how you would feel if someone kept your pup and did not make any effort to find you

I am glad you are taking good care of him!
