I have just gone through this with 3 of my Yorkies. It runs its course almost like a 24 hour virus. One of the most important things is to watch their water intake. It is important they do not become dehydrated. Even though they drink, they may bring it up. The bloodie stools can look very nasty and look like fresh blood. They vomit a clear thick mucus. It is very alarming if you are not use to seeing it. However, as long as they are drinking water they should be fine within the 24 hour period. Young puppies would need to see the vet ASAP because of dehydration but young adults usually survive the bout without any problems.
