I think it's the best way to potty train them. Putting them in the crate when you can't watch them because they won't pee or poop in the crate unless left there for too long. As soon as you get the puppy out of the crate take her outside. When she's done doing her business you can give her a reward (I usually use boiled chicken, tiny pieces). Then you can have her run around the house while supervising her. When you can't watch her, in the crate....immediately out of the crate she goes outside....they learn pretty quick but you have to be consistent...
