I had a nice chat with one of our Animal Control Officers - I was very impressed with him. The laws in Georgia state that property owners are allowed to protect "person and property" by what ever means are necessary. We don't have a leash law in our county, we have an restraint law meaning that ALL domestic animals including cats must be restrained to your property. If they leave your property you are in violation. So the huge moral issue with me is -- when to shoot. I do not want to kill the dogs just because they just trot across the road, but when they go into attack mode, then it is hard to get a good clean shot without the risk of injuring the horses. It is compounded by the fact that the neighbor lady was hostile about the whole situation.
Fortunately I haven't seen them again. I sincerely hope that the dogs are being well taken care of and for goodness sakes I hope that lactating bitch gets more to eat.
