We brought Penny home at 5 months so maybe that helped with her training, but we taught her a "No Kitty" command immediately. She wasn't allowed to chase the cat. I was worried about my 6 year-old cat feeling threatened. Now they play wonderfully together, with the cat initiating it half the time.
