Default Yorkie from Japan

A very close friend, who is Japanese and living in the US, has been offered a Yorkie puppy that was abandoned. But the puppy is with her Aunt in Japan and when my friend goes home for a visit in August she wants to bring the puppy back with her. I understand that as long as the Japanese yorkie has its shots up to date, there will be no quarantine period. But I am concerned about the fact that the journey, door to door, from Japan to Florida takes 20 hours. My question is, how will she keep the puppy on a plane for so many hours? Even crated and in the cabin with her, the poor little thing will need to relieve itself, eat and run around. Has anyone done this? Any advice for a newbie yorkie traveler?
