Well, I started training Jackson the second day I brought him home at 9 weeks old. The first day we were too busy oohhing and ahhing over him to care about the pee and poo accidents lol. But the 2nd day, I got started right away. He was on a very strict schedule for the first few weeks of life and I swear that helped him become the dog he is now. I began taking him immediately outside on a leash because I was planning on outdoor training. A lot of people will say not to bring your dog outside at all w/o all shots but I was not gonna have pee and poop in the house be acceptable for very long lol. At this point, he only had his first set of shots but I only took him to one designated area in our backyard. He also played alot with my moms dog. At 12 weeks, he got his 2nd round of shots so he got a little more freedom in the backyard. I didn't take him to any pet stores, dog parks, etc until after his third and last set of shots. People may disagree with me.. but I feel as long as you know that dogs infeced with parvo have been in your yard, you will be fine. And keeping them on a leash so you know what they are getting into. |
