I failed crate training also... I agree if you cant be with them use a gate to put them in the kitchen or small room with a pee pad , toys , food and water.. I wouldnt want to be in a cage all day so I didnt do it to my dog.. those Xpens are great and confine movement when you cant watch them and they need to go out, again a put a pee pad , toys and food and water...
