Sorry you had such a bad experience, but give it time and things will get better. Like anything or anywhere - there is good and bad. I have met only a few people that I did not like, but have met a lot of very nice and supportive poeple. Many of my best friends are show people. They are very kind and thoughtful and glad I show, so was able to meet them.
I have also met some very nice handlers and they are very kind to the dogs they show. If you watched them and did not know they were a handler, you would think the dog/s were their own. I have seen them talk sweetly to them, give them a lot of attention, play with them, and spoil them. So just give it time and you will see.
