I'm not sure if I offended you or not, Toke - I never meant to imply you would know better than a vet, I just wanted to get a head start. But it was for naught - the vet is keeping him overnight. He still won't drink water and they're continuing to medicate him. They don't have him on IV's though so I'm not sure what to think.
He took liquids (electrolyte) yesterday at 1640, 1730, 1940, 2015, 2040, 2100, 2130, 2210, 0115, 0345 and only threw up once in that time - at 2300 AND peed late last night also. So it would seem that just from yesterday he was hydrated. Now, today, he's taking nothing in. So I'm guessing that if the vet doesn't put him on an IV tomorrow I should demand it?
He is still thinking bacterial infection. They are saying that the meds they give him tonight should really turn him around. If absolutely nothing else he is not in pain. I (and 2 of my kids) just spent 2 hours with him, holding him and reassuring him that he wasn't abandoned at the vets. He seems the tiniest bit perkier - looks up when he hears other dogs or sounds and even wanted to get down off my lap a couple times to sniff around but definitely still very very sick.
The kids are all missing him like crazy and the 9yo is crying her eyes out worried about him.
Now I need to figure out how to say "IV fluids" in Spanish. I'm also going to float the idea of pancreatitis with him (vet) and see what he thinks. Would you say in layman's terms (I'm figuring out how I'm going to term pancreatitis) that pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas? (I can say that without any problem)
