I've been grooming Bitsy myself for the last year and have been pleased with the results. However, the last few months, she's been getting matts in the long hair on the upper parts of her legs (shoulders / hind quarters). The hair on her body is trimmed to hang down a couple of inches below her body, but leaving the hair this long on her shoulders is matting and it doesn't lay flat. Should I layer these areas or use clippers to cut the hair shorter?
